2015 was a great year for beauty, and I feel like I really added some superstar products to my collection. Honestly, I had a really hard time narrowing down this list! So, here goes: in no particular order, here are my 10 best beauty buys of 2015!
The Original BeautyBlender
This sponge is one of those Holy Grail products that every girl should have in her makeup toolkit. I put off buying it for a really long time, but I’m so glad that I eventually bit the bullet. It blends foundation and concealer flawlessly, so your complexion practically looks airbrushed.
Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation
Is it possible to be in love with a makeup product? Because I’m shamelessly in love with this foundation. I have tried so.many.foundations over my 10+ years of wearing makeup and I’m so happy to report that in the year 2015 I finally found THE ONE. Other foundations may have their time and place (matte, dewy, etc.), but this one will always be my main squeeze.
BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop
OMG. Speaking of THE ONE…. This highlighter is my one and only. Like, I apply this liberally all over so my face can sparkle to high heaven. I really don’t care that my face might look like a shiny disco ball (for the record, it doesn’t. I’m being hyperbolic.). The point is, I can’t get enough of this buttery, shimmery, compact goodness.
Sephora Retractable Brow Pencil
My number 1 most repurchased makeup item right here. I think I’m on my… seventh pencil? The thing I appreciate most in a beauty product is when convenience marries exceptional performance. Filling in my brows doesn’t get easier than this one-and-done pencil that has a hard, waxy tip on one end and tiny comb for brushing up brows on the other end – and is self-sharpening! It deposits the most natural brush strokes that mimic the look of individual hairs and blend beautifully for fuller-looking brows.
L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara in Carbon Black
The greatest secret is that the best mascaras are found at the drugstore. I used to obsess massively over L’Oreal Voluminous mascara, but L’Oreal Telescopic mascara in Carbon Black totally takes the cake and has become my number 1 pick. I love it because the formula is lengthening, the brush separating, and it lasts all day without a single flake or smudge.
Sunday Riley Power Couple Duo
When the cooler weather rolled around last year, my skin went into a bit of a panic. I started breaking out and getting redness/dryness like I hadn’t experienced since I was a teenager. This Sunday Riley combo has been my saving grace and are the only skincare products I’ve used where I can actually see a radical change in my skin. The retinol formula in the Luna oil has improved the overall texture of my skin, including shrinking my pores and melting away fine lines; the lactic acid in the Good Genes treatment has made my skin look like glass. On their own, the products are quite pricey, but you should snap up the Power Couple Duo if you still can!
Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray
The only hair product I’ve ever used that can make my actually dirty hair look intentionally dirty (does that even make sense? Whatever.). The product is so finely milled that you only need a few tiny sprays, and the smell is incredible. I recently picked up a full-size and a travel size so I never ever have to go without it.
Sensationail Starter Kit
Two things you should know about me: 1) I love gel manicures and 2) I hate paying for them. My friend Kelsey actually told me about the Sensationail starter kit, and how each kit comes with everything you need for your own DIY gel manicures at home. My gel nails actually last as long as when I get them done at a salon, and I can do them while watching Parks & Rec. Done and done.
Tatcha Pure One-Step Camellia Cleansing Oil
Have you guys tried hot cloth cleansing yet? It’s seriously magical, and the Tatcha cleansing oil is so bomb. It starts off as a thick, viscous oil which you dry massage into your face for a couple of minutes. After that, just run a little muslin cloth under hot water and remove the oil. Once the oil makes contact with the hot water it emulsifies and transforms into a milk. After using the Tatcha cleansing oil, my skin is so soft and feels so clean that I don’t need to double-cleanse. I’ve tried more than a few cleansing oils and this one is by far my fave.
GHD Classic 1″ Styler
I’d been considering buying this straightener for sooooooo long but never did (umm, hi $$$) but I finally treated myself for my birthday last year. Best decision ever. Here are the highlights: heats up in under 30 seconds, beveled edge makes it so easy to curl hair, and best of all, has an automatic shut off after 30 minutes of inactivity. For any girl in the world who has ever known the pure horror of realizing you left your straightener on, this baby is for you.
