A Clean Beauty Haul.

November 5, 2018

Trying out some new products

Ahhh… clean beauty. Clean beauty is something that I’ve loved for years but I don’t think I’ve ever done a proper blog post on the subject. Moreover, I cannot talk about clean beauty without mentioning Credo Beauty in the same breath. Credo is, of course, the largest, safest, and real-est clean beauty assortment retailer in the US. In addition to being cruelty-free, all of Credo’s products are formulated without harmful ingredients.

I was lucky enough to receive a goodie box of some of Credo’s best-sellers and customer faves to try out… and boy oh boy are they good. Keep reading to find out my faves and maybe you’ll discover some new clean beauty products to try out for yourself!

#AskJulianne: I Need A Daytime Moisturizer!

February 6, 2017

QUESTION:

Hey Julianne,

I know you’re rocking things because I still read your blog. I am seeking advice. I am trying to up my skincare game. I got the nip and fab pads you wrote about and so far so good. What I feel like I’m lacking is a basic daytime moisturizer to throw on afterward… do you have a suggestion? I’m super lucky skin wise. I can completely stop doing anything and it’s completely fine for all intents and purposes. It’ll feel a little oily here and there but nothing major. When I use a cleansing/toning product it can feel a little tight/dry afterward. So I just want something that promotes health in general and can restore a bit of moisture/spring to my skin after cleansing it. 9/10 I don’t wear make up in my current routine so I’m really starting from bare bones trying to build better skin care habits. Thanks so much!

My Nightly Skincare Routine

January 27, 2017

nightly-skincare-routineAdmittedly, many routines in my life have fallen to the wayside as the busyness of life sets in (working out, having my eyebrows tended to, blogging… to name a few). However, I’m always on it with my nightly skincare routine. Every night I take great joy in melting away the stresses of the day with a methodical skincare routine, finishing off with a cup of tea and an episode or two of Gilmore Girls.

As a beauty blogger, I test out a lot of skincare. When I find products that I love, they become like family to me: a comforting presence in an otherwise stressful world. And because you are also my family, I’m delighted to share the lineup with you.

There’s a common misconception that you must layer on thick creams and lotions to ward off dry, flaky skin. While that is an important step in any skincare routine, I would argue that what’s even more important is how you exfoliate beforehand. For me, there’s only one product for the job. These Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Pads have become my savior for flaky, dry winter skin.

You’re Sleeping on a Silk Pillowcase, Right?

November 2, 2016

silk-pillowcase-2I really hope you clicked into this article thinking “OMG no… should I be?!” after reading the title, because this post is for you. Sleeping on a silk pillowcase is something that every person should experience. From softer, healthier hair to clearer skin, there are so many benefits to sleeping on silk. What what are you waiting for?silk-pillowcase-3

Tell me more.

Sleeping on silk does incredible things for your hair. I’ve been sleeping on a silk pillowcase (this one, if you’re curious) for about 6 months and have definitely noticed a difference in the shininess and softness of my hair. Gone are my Medusa mornings – I now wake up to healthy, bouncy waves and I’m not kidding. Silk reduces the amount of friction on your hair as you toss and turn throughout the night, so you wake up to less breakage, dullness, and frizziness.

Sleeping on silk does incredible things for your skin. We spend 8 hours a night with our faces pressed against a pillow. Sleep wrinkles are real and they’re coming for ya. Silk helps the delicate facial skin retain its moisture. Unlike cotton (an absorbent fiber that draws moisture), silk will not absorb natural moisture from your face (and hair!). I’ve been waking up to healthier, more luminous-looking skin, and I know it’s not just to the credit of my skincare regimen.

Your pillow is always on the cool side. Silk is a natural heat regulator that helps maintain the correct body temperature, and doesn’t conduct heat or static electricity like other fibers (looking at you, cotton). It will keep you refreshingly cool in the summer and perfectly warm in the winter. No need to flip to the cool side of the pillow anymore!

It straight up feels luxurious. There, I said it. Sleeping on a silk pillowcase will make you feel like an Egyptian queen. Is there anything more fabulous than that?
